چکیده
Dear Editor: I recently read your published article entitled ‘’Value of Power Doppler and Gray-Scale US in the Diagnosis of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: Contribution of Cross-Sectional Area just before the Tunnel Inlet as Compared with the CrossSectional Area at the Tunnel‘’ with interest (1). Dr. Akcar’s article (1) is very informative in that it described the axial images of the median nerve at three levels: just proximal to the tunnel inlet, at the level of the pisiform bone, and at the level of the hamate bone. Value of Power Doppler and Gray-Scale US in the Diagnosis of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: Contribution of Cross-Sectional Area just before the Tunnel Inlet as Compared with the Cross-Sectional Area at the Tunnel
OBJECTIVE To determine the value of gray-scale and power Doppler ultrasonography in the evaluation of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). MATERIALS AND METHODS Median nerves at the carpal tunnel were evaluated by using gray-scale and power Doppler ultrasonography and by using accepted and new criteria in 42 patients with CTS (62 wrists) confirmed by electromyogram and 33 control subjects. We evalua...
متن کاملComparison of Ultrasound Findings of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome before and after Corticosteroid Injection
Background and Objective: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is the most prevalent type of peripheral neuropathy due to neural entrapment. This syndrome is primarily diagnosed based on clinical symptoms, and it is subsequently confirmed by electro-diagnostic studies. Ultrasonography as a safe, available, and inexpensive method is also valuable in the follow-up of patients. This study aimed to evaluate the ...

Background: Progress in high-contrast ultrasound technology in recent years brought more attention to its rule in the diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). The aim of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic value of sonography in the diagnosis of CTS and its relationship with disease severity. Methods: In this prospective study, 100 patients who had unilateral upper extremity involvement w...
متن کاملDominance in hands and cross-sectional area of median nerve in carpal tunnel syndrome
Introduction: Currently, neuroresearchers report that the median nerve shows severity-correlated intracarpal enlargement in idiopathic carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) as a most common peripheral neuropathic disorder. The purpose of this paper was to investigate ultrasonography morphological findings in patients with idiopathic CTS and comparing some physical properties such as age, gender, BMI wit...
متن کاملEvaluation and Comparison of Changes in Ultrasonography before and after Carpal Tunnel release
Background: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between changes observed in an ultrasonography before and after the surgical release of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). Methods: This prospective study was performed on 15 candidates of CTS surgery during 2017-2018 who underwent an ultrasonography before and three months after the surgery. The structural changes in the median nerve and the...
